Defenders Action Fund announces endorsements for U.S. Representatives
Conservation takes active leadership demonstrated by endorsees' solid voting records
WASHINGTON - Today Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund announced its endorsements for US House Representatives seeking re-election this year. The 216 Members of the House of Representatives were chosen based upon their strong support for protecting America's air, land, water and wildlife over the past year.
"Every time these leaders cast a vote for wildlife and conservation, they cast a vote for all Americans," commented Defenders Action Fund President Rodger Schlickeisen. "Protection of our country's precious wildlife, habitat and natural landscapes doesn't just happen by chance, it requires dedication to conservation values and to the interests of future generations.
"Now, more than ever, our country needs forward-thinking conservation policies, which especially include shifting to renewable and sustainable sources of energy. The threats posed by global warming to conservation of our natural biological diversity are unparalleled and require truly visionary leadership by those in Congress. The members we endorse today are part of the solution to this and other great conservation challenges, and we are proud to provide them with them our endorsement for re-election today."
Defenders Action Fund first released its annual Conservation Report Card in 2004 and has been scoring the conservation votes of every Member of Congress each year since. Defenders Action Fund expects to release endorsements for congressional challengers later this year.
